As Collingham prepares for Collingham in Bloom 2025, we reached out to local residents to help maintain and enhance one of our village’s most treasured landmarks: The Cross … and oh my word, have we succeeded.
Located at the heart of the village, The Cross is both a historical focal point and a beautiful green space that reflects our community spirit. Over recent years, it has been transformed by our dedicated volunteers into a vibrant wildflower haven — alive with colour, movement, and pollinators. Featuring native species such as Cornflower, Birdsfoot Trefoil, Devil’s-bit Scabious, and Oxeye Daisy, this carefully curated space supports biodiversity while offering a striking welcome to visitors and residents alike.
The Cross plays a key role in our entry for East Midlands in Bloom, showcasing our commitment to environmental responsibility and village pride. But to keep it thriving, we need your help.
Whether you can give a little time or a lot, your support — weeding, watering, tidying, or planting — will make a real difference. Volunteering at The Cross is also a chance to meet others, learn about wildflowers, and be part of something meaningful.
By caring for The Cross, we celebrate not only nature but also our shared values as a village. Together, we can ensure this special place continues to shine as a symbol of Collingham’s community pride.
