Duke of Edinburgh Volunteering

At Collingham in Bloom, we’re proud to support young people working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award by offering meaningful, hands-on volunteering opportunities that make a real difference to our village.

Participants gain practical experience while contributing to a greener, more vibrant Collingham. Tasks range from planting and maintaining flower beds, watering flower beds, litter picking, and helping with seasonal projects like bulb planting or creating wildlife habitats.

We are working with local secondary schools to develop a rewarding programme and welcome volunteers working towards Bronze, Silver, or Gold awards, and we ensure that all tasks are suitable for their level and interests. It’s a fantastic way to gain new skills, build confidence, and connect with the local community—while adding colour and biodiversity to our public spaces.

Volunteering with Collingham in Bloom also gives young people insight into environmental responsibility, teamwork, and the value of civic pride.

We work closely with parents and DofE leaders to ensure all activities are safe, rewarding, and meet the programme’s criteria.
