Nestled beside All Saints Church, the Herbal Sensory Space is a peaceful community garden created through our Adopt a Spot scheme. Once damaged by severe flooding, this area is being lovingly restored into a tranquil, resilient space for everyone to enjoy.
At its heart are flood-resistant planters made from upcycled tractor tyres, generously donated by local farmers. These robust, eco-friendly planters not only prevent waterlogging but also reflect Collingham’s strong rural identity. The project has been proudly supported by the Collingham Young Farmers, who helped with design, planting, and installation.
A bench made entirely from recycled and salvaged materials offers a restful place to sit and take in the herbal scents, textures, and colours. The garden features a variety of edible and sensory plants, many of which were donated by local residents.
We’re also grateful to McHenry’s, who supplied a selection of herbs and edible plants, and to Tillers Turf for providing the lush turf that ties the garden together.
This space is designed to promote well-being, connection, and quiet reflection—while showcasing the power of community collaboration, sustainability, and creative reuse.
