Stockshill

As one of Collingham’s cherished green spaces, Stockshill plays a key role in our Collingham in Bloom campaign — offering a peaceful, nature-rich setting that complements the village’s more formal displays.

This year, we’ve focused on enhancing biodiversity through native wildflower and woodland-edge planting. Species such as wild violas, scabious, primroses, and foxgloves now bring layered colour and valuable nectar sources to the site. These additions sit beautifully alongside established seasonal bulbs like snowdrops, crocuses, and daffodils, which brighten the green in early spring.

In keeping with our commitment to wildlife, a new bat roost has been discreetly installed among the trees — providing essential habitat for these nocturnal pollinators. Can you spot it next time you visit? It’s just one of the quiet ways we’re supporting Collingham’s natural ecosystems.

Stockshill offers a softer, more naturalistic space within the village, with a woodland-edge feel that encourages reflection and reconnection with nature. It stands in contrast to more structured floral areas, demonstrating the importance of variety in our green spaces.

Thanks to the ongoing care of our volunteers, Stockshill is blooming into a true sanctuary — for both wildlife and the community.

🌿 Look closely — nature is thriving all around you.
